Our Services

Itinerary and Deployment Design & Expedition Planning

EVC has pioneered groundbreaking voyages worldwide. We use our expansive geographic expertise to develop a rich variety of expeditions. From cultural performances in Papua New Guinea to the historic huts from the heroic age of exploration in Antarctica's Ross Sea, we can manage day-by-day itinerary development or full season deployment to maximize revenue.

Case Study Northwest Passage

Northwest Passage

We spent three years designing the pioneering expedition of the Crystal Serenity through the NWP. Our team developed new concepts to run the expedition, which included hiring an escort vessel, and led a groundbreaking outreach program to the Canadian Arctic communities that has been widely lauded throughout the Arctic.

We coordinated shore excursions and community visits, arranged helicopters for ice-reconnaissance and flightseeing, helped create a dedicated Emergency Response Plan for the voyage, and assembled an expedition team of over 40 to manage logistics, offer wilderness landings and provide onboard enrichment and workshops.

Permitting, Manuals & Polar Code Implementation

Our staff writes Standard Operative Procedures (including helicopter and submersible) for new operations and assists writing the new Polar Code Operating Manuals. To ensure your polar expedition is properly documented, we have two of the world’s experts in polar permitting to navigate the complex regulations and Environmental Impact Assessments.

Implementation of SOPs

When launching their new ship, one company turned to EVC to create Standard Operating Procedures for their watersports activities.

We also supplied a small team to help launch the first six months of operation, operate the small boats, coordinate the watersports program, lead hikes ashore and introduce nightly recaps.

EVC ensured a safe and efficient operation from day one for a company with no prior experience with these facilities.

Expedition Team Staffing & Management

From expedition leaders to ornithologists to wildlife photographers, we handle short term staffing needs around the globe. EVC has dedicated resources to contract, arrange travel for and manage Field Staff. For operators undertaking limited deployments, we assemble expert expedition teams suited to the geography and planned operations.

Case Study Papua New Guinea

Case Study
Papua New Guinea

Before our client's first-ever Papua New Guinea voyage, EVC helped coordinate the shore excursions and cultural performances as well as assisted in developing marketing material.

Once onboard, our local contacts ensured the performances in these remote villages went smoothly, while our expedition leader and three expedition staff (which included two native speakers) provided enrichment, performed daily recaps for the guests, liaised with the local villages and ran Zodiac landings and operations.

Helicopter, ROV & Submersible Operations

Today's expedition guests want to explore further using helicopters, ROVs and submarines. Our team has unparalled experience with these trendsetting operations.

EVC has run helicopter operations in both polar regions, including landing guests on Arctic cliffs at sunrise from the largest unsupported ship to transit the Northwest Passage.

One of our founders was general manager for the dives to the RMS Titanic and is a prominent source on submersible best practices and technology. Significantly, our team was granted the first permits for private submersible operation in Antarctica.

Case Study Submersible

Case Study
Submersible

One of EVC's partners spent several years overseeing the rebuild that resulted in the world's most capable deep water expedition vessel. Under his guidance, the vessel was fitted with three submersible, two of which were capable of reaching 1,000 meters below the surface. Responsible for the vessel's overall expedition capability, he also ensured its ROV and technical diving facilities were state of the art.

Since being launched, the vessel has carried out near continuous exploration of the ocean's depth, resulting in new discoveries in regions that few have explored.

Expedition Ship Design & Rebuild

EVC can incorporate expedition capability in your vessel. Our team has worked with shipyards, naval architects and operators to both design vessels and bring new ships into service. We understand the many facets of designing a robust and efficient expedition ship.

Case Study Damen Shipyards

Damen Shipyards

For an expedition ship to be both capable and efficient, expedition capabilities need to be incorporated into the design as early as possible.

In April 2016, EVC partnered with Damen Shipyards as expedition design consultants to help create a new line of expedition cruise ships. Using our years of operating on almost the entire expedition fleet, we have learned what works and what should be left out.

From refit projects to new builds, our years of hard won experience will save operators substantial time and costly refits down the road.

Market Research & Analysis

EVC brings more than just operational perspective to your company; we leverage our firsthand knowledge of the marketplace to provide valuable intelligence on the industry's future opportunities.

We have engaged with private equity firms and investors on fleet and operational analysis and are able to fine tune operations, identify untouched niches and implement new itineraries to help develop your product from a sound financial viewpoint.

We also produced possibly the most comprehensive overview and analysis of the current expedition industry; it includes industry trends, price points and individual ship characteristics.
